“It’s never too far from the Rousseau Bar, and it’s the place to be in the
Western U.P.”, says Bob & Gloria Foley, owners of this historic saloon
established in 1936. Take the trails in the Ottawa National Forest or
Highways M-28 or M-38 to Forest Highway 16 and follow the signs to
Rousseau, population 6. Grab a taste on nostalgic refreshment,  selection of
good grub, appetizers or pizza; then head back to your campsite fed,
refreshed and revitalized! While you’re there check out the “wall of history”,
and cut your name into the “carving post”. Bob suggests that “If your wife
calls and you’re not here, you tell her.”  Just one more thing right from the
“on the level floor”… The saloon is closed for hangings, but there hasn’t
been too many of them lately.
Get your deer (the four legged kind) weighed at the Rousseau Bar. Call them
at (906) 883-9952 for directions from any campground in the “Ottawa”, or
any town in the western Upper Peninsula. (They’re just a hop, skip and jump
from Hoppy’s Bar in Kenton.)
